- Only you can see your saved custom forecasts, so you can safely add your best-kept secrets.
- Only available on the website, not in the app.
What are custom forecasts?
They allow you to get a 16-day forecast for any location over the ocean including:
- Significant wave height
- Individually sorted primary & secondary swells
- Wave energy
- Wind
- Daylight hours
How can I get a custom forecast?
Custom forecasts are built into our new charts platform. Click here to learn more about our charts.
Take note of the new tooltip in the center of the chart screen. The tooltip shows wave height & period for the position the screen is centered over. Drag the map or zoom in/out to change the position. See more info by hitting the expand arrow.
You'll then see coordinates for the location selected as well as significant wave height, peak period, mean direction and wave energy. To the right, the top 3 individually sorted swells are listed. Click View forecast to see more.
Can I save my custom location?
Yes! Use the Favorite button in the top right of the custom forecast page as you would with a spot page. Name it and add it to your list.
Note: if the geographic coordinates for the custom forecast you’ve saved aren’t exactly where you want them to be, you can edit them by clicking on “Edit spot” in the upper right corner of the Custom Forecast spot page.
Where can I find my saved custom forecasts?
You can then access saved favorites from the homepage by clicking View All next to Surf Check or Surf Forecast.
Custom forecasts have a dedicated tab, highlighted below.
